Savan Vegas Hotel and Casino
Laos will open its first large scale
entertainment center, resort and casino complex
along the Thai-Lao border
opposite Mukdahan province in January 2009. The
project includes a casino, a five-star hotel with 160 rooms,
restaurants, an amusement park, an aqua-park and a traditional spa
service centre.
The Savan Vegas Hotel and Casino
(“Savan Vegas”) is located in Savannakhet Province, Laos. The
site is adjacent to the second Laos-Thailand Friendship Bridge which
connects Savannakhet with Mukdahan Province in Thailand. Vegas location
is in Nongdeune Village, Kaisonephomvihan District.
Traveling from Thailand to
Savannakhet
Daily VIP bus services are available from Bangkok and
Pattaya to Mukdahan. The
Laos-Thailand Friendship Bridge (II) is about 15 kilometers outside of
the town of Mukdahan, but you can catch a local bus at the Mukdahan bus
station that will take you to the Thai-Lao border on the Laos side of
the river. The Savan Vegas will more than likely have a shuttle bus
service set up at the border, to take you the rest of the way.
The Savannakhet Airport is not offering a regular schedule of flights
yet, but the following information was recently published by the
Vientiane Times. The dates on which new flights are scheduled to start
may change, but the flight schedules and intent to operate these
flights in the near future appears to be genuine.
"The new flights are scheduled to occur every Wednesday, Friday and
Sunday. Departure times are at 10.30am, traveling from Vientiane to
Savannakhet and 12.10pm traveling in the opposite direction. Lao
Airlines is planning to introduce flights between Luang Prabang and
Udon Thani in Thailand. Flights will commence on October 30 (2008) and
depart
every Friday and Sunday. The
airline is also preparing to open a new route from Savannakhet to Da
Nang and Hue in Vietnam by 2009. The company will also commence tri-weekly
flights between Savannakhet
and Bangkok on October 22 (2008). This route will operate every
Wednesday,
Friday and Sunday."

A two stage resort
construction project
This is the first 5-star hotel and casino entertainment complex to be
developed in the country and it is managed by Sanum Investments
Limited. The construction of Savan Vegas began in October of 2007 and
is scheduled to be completed in time for a January 2009 grand opening.
Savan Vegas offers a 5 star level of service with an average room
size of over 400 square feet. Larger suites will be available for
VIP customers. State of the art casino games and equipment from
major international providers will be featured. Savan Vegas exterior
architectural design portraits the combination of
the southern Lao ancient ruins and the historic elephant symbol of the
Lao Lane Xang Kingdom (the Kingdom of Million Elephants). The interior
design reflects the combination of modern Las Vegas and traditional
Laos.
Phase 1:
This phase will include a 180 luxury room hotel, 4,950 square
meters of gaming space with 300 slot machines and 80 table games, an
international restaurant and bar facilities, an entertainment center, a
premium spa facility, modern shops, and the largest swimming pool in
southern Laos.
Phase 2: This phase will include additional rooms and further
amenities, additional restaurant space, nightclubs, sauna and Jacuzzi
area, spa and massage rooms, a fitness center and more. Phase two
should be completed in 2009.
